OPP CHARGE DRIVER WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING FOLLOWING MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(BALDWIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged with impaired driving following a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17.

 

On December 2, 2023, shortly after 11:20 a.m., members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Manitoulin-Sudbury District Paramedic Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Baldwin Township.

 

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

 

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and further tests were conducted at the hospital.

 

As a result of the investigation, Raymond MACKENZIE, 51-years-old from Stayner has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on January 15, 2024.

 

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
