By Rosalind Russell – Deer are on the move and the East Algoma OPP wants motorists to be alert when travelling, especially on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Constable Bev Gauthier says so far this month, the OPP has investigated 24 motor vehicle collisions and six of those involved deer. She says the OPP is beginning to see a high presence of deer on our roadways including the Trans-Canada Highway adding as Spring nears, deer are moving as snow disappears and tend to gravitate near roadway shoulders.
She adds deer seldom run alone, so if you see one deer, others are likely nearby.
