By Rosalind Russell – Participants in the Project SEARCH Pioneer Manor employment preparation and career training program have received their Certificates of Completion.
The project is a transition-to-work program that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training where students in their final year of high school develop skills required for entry-level employment.
Nicole Leclair, Director of Long-Term Care Services with the City of Greater Sudbury, says in its second year at Pioneer Manor, seven students from Rainbow Schools engaged in three internships in various departments.
She adds the internships were guided by skilled, experienced staff including a teacher from Rainbow District School Board and Skills Trainers from March of Dimes Canada.
High school students interested in the program are encouraged to talk to their guidance counsellors this coming September.
