Rainbow District School Board updates cyber incident

By Rosalind Russell – Last February, the Rainbow District School Board distributed a notice regarding personal information compromised during a cyber incident that occurred earlier that month.

According to the latest release, since then, the board retained the services of a third-party expert to work with staff to carry out a secondary review of the affected records, which included employment records, identification and more.

Officials say the process was a necessary step in the board’s commitment to staff, students, and affected families to determine whether any additional personal information had been compromised beyond the initial notice.

The board has not received any confirmed reports of fraud or attempted fraud to date, and believe the risk of data misuse to be low.

They continue to monitor the situation.
