By Rosalind Russell – Over 250 elementary students from Grades 3 to 8 in Rainbow Schools will hit the trails for a cross-country skiing race this Thursday, February 12 at the Walden Cross Country Trails.
Walden Public School teacher and race co-organizer Stefan Skogberg says it’s an exciting event for students.
He says the races will start at 10 am, and students will compete in races by grade ranging from 2 km to 3 km in length.
He adds each race will be a mass start with the final race expected to be completed shortly after noon, followed by an awards ceremony outside of the ski chalet.
Skogberg adds medals will be presented by grade level to the top three skiers in each race.
