By Rosalind Russell – This past Monday, a men’s shelter in Elliot Lake received a cheque from the local Tim Horton’s, proceeds from the recent Smile Cookie Campaign.
Franchise owner Erin Brunelle presented a cheque for $17,148.96 to Larry’s Place Fresh Start for Men, a shelter committed to assisting men facing challenges including loss of job and/or their home.
Brunelle says the fundraising campaign took place from April 28th to May 4th, featuring chocolate chip cookies adorned with smiley face icing usually applied by dozens of volunteers.
She adds throughout the campaign, every dollar generated from the sale of Smile Cookies goes directly to various charitable causes, including shelters such as Larry’s Place.
