By Grant Lewis – We all realize the importance of Food Banks in our country, province, cities and towns. Your local Helping Hand Food Bank is required to submit a quarterly report to Food Banks Canada with monthly updates. Like everywhere else, our local Food Bank is seeing a definite uptick in need with new clients every week. So for January 1st to March 31 st here are our figures. Keep in mind that qualifying clients may visit the Food Bank twice a month. Total number of households served…402. Total number of individuals served…625. These are alarming numbers for a small town. Our total quarterly expenses…just over $29,000. Remember all our supplies are bought locally!!!
So you can understand the importance of Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie campaign for local charities. Helping Hand Food Bank is indeed lucky and appreciative of being chosen to benefit from the sale of Smile Cookies. We cannot thank enough the hard work and dedication of the employees at Tim’s.
Those blue eyes and red smiles didn’t just jump onto the thousands of cookies sold. Over fifty volunteers spent hours honing their artistic skills to decorate!
In appreciation for the hours baking and selling all those cookies, the Food Banks was delighted to give back in a small way. Pictured are some of the staff at the two Tim Hortons stores….in town and McKerrow. Enjoy the snacks you guys….you deserve them!
The total money raised was$20,700!! So thank you everyone who supported the campaign. Hope you enjoyed the cookies!!
