Special Olympics Ontario Winter Games coming to the North

By Rosalind Russell – The Special Olympics Ontario Winter Games are coming to Northern Ontario in 2027.

North Bay has been named the host city, led by the North Bay Police Service.

Over 500 athletes and coaches from across the province will compete in five sports – including alpine and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, curling and figure skating.

Events will take place from January to March that year.

North Bay Police Chief Daryl Longworth received the torch and flag at last weekend’s closing ceremony for the summer games in Brantford.
