

By Rosalind Russell – Six swimmers represented the Elliot Lake Aquatic Club at the Fred Rams Championship in Timmins this past weekend.
Club spokesperson Shawn Beaulieu says it was a meet that showcased the swimmer’s growth culminating their training for the swim season.
He says the team members came home with medals, many personal bests and new memories.
He adds that having attended three out of four available swim meets after a four-year hiatus was truly a success for the organization.
The hiatus was put in place while the pool in Elliot Lake underwent a complete rebuild.
As this swim season wraps up, Beaulieu emphasizes that the entire ELAC team can hold their swim caps high as they begin the next phase of rebuilding their dynamic and historical club.
Brody Williams (8) swam in four events.
With personal bests and solid swims, he brought home a first-place finish in the 100m backstroke, second-place finishes for his 50m freestyle, and third-place finishes for both his 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle events.
Tenley Blanchette (8) showed control and patience as she swam to a third-place finish in the 100m Backstroke event.
She also swam the 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and freestyle over the weekend.
Elijah Theberge (10) earned personal best times and used her teammates cheer to swim a total of five events including a tough 100m breaststroke.
Elena Reinhardt (10) used this year’s training and experience to shave 22.84 sec from her 50m backstroke as well as her personal best time for her 50m freestyle.
Michael Mongrain (12) swam in six events with personal bests in the freestyle 50m and 100m distances.
Colbie Williams (12) also swam in 6 events over the weekend alongside her teammates. Completing a tough 200m freestyle with 6.5 sec. Improvement to start the meet. She continued to show that her swimming is improving with solid finishes in all her events, including back, breast and freestyle strokes.
As this swim season wraps up, the entire ELAC team has to hold their swim caps high as they have begun the next phase of rebuilding our dynamic and historical club.
