By Rosalind Russell – Seventeen new long-term care homes participating in specialized dementia programs are receiving supports from the Ontario government, including the Algoma Manor Nursing Home in Thessalon.
The Ford government says the 17 homes are all participating in the new Improving Dementia Care Program and increasing access to behavioural specialized units.
The $9 million investment is spread out over three years to support residents living with dementia.
Ontario is also investing to add up to 153 specialized beds in five long-term care homes across the province, including Algoma Manor, which will receive funding for 13 beds.
