(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person is facing impaired related charges following a traffic stop in Espanola.
On Friday, July 31, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., an officer from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol on Highway 6 near Anderson Lake Road in Espanola, and observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. A traffic stop was initiated, and while speaking with the driver, the officer noticed an odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made, and the driver registered a “FAIL”. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.
The driver, Braedon ONLINSKY, 33-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:
- Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice bail court on September 8, 2026.
