Where the two trails meet … a new shelter for snowmobilers’

By Rosalind Russell -Two snowmobile clubs partnered together on a unique project to make the trail system a little more user friendly.

According to the release, a joint venture between the Spanish River Snowmobile Club and the Espanola & District Snowmobile Club has culminated in the construction of a new shelter that is now trail ready.

Built on a sturdy steel sleigh, it can be moved if needed to best serve riders along the two club’s trails.

The donations for materials came from various businesses including Espanola Home Hardware, Spanish River Resort and Campground, TerraStar Building Products, Interfor – the Nairn Sawmill, with personal donations by Glen Kendall and Clint and Linda White of Whiteway Finance.

The shelter, for now, is located on the D Trail where the two clubs meet, just west of Massey.
