By Rosalind Russell – A high school student from Blind River took part in the Youth Parliament of Canada earlier this month.
Josée-Anne Burling, a Grade 12 student at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord in Blind River, was selected to take part in the 2025 Youth Parliament of Canada in Ottawa.
The four-day bilingual parliamentary simulation brought together 73 young participants aged 16 to 20 and she says it offered her the opportunity to engage in authentic parliamentary activities in the Senate chambers, including educational debates, committee work, and a question period.
She also had the chance to meet Members of Parliament, political leaders, and journalists.
Burling adds it was an immersive and memorable experience for her, even making her keener on her aspirations to become a lawyer.
