By Rosalind Russell – The Mayor of Gore Bay, Ron Lane, has welcomed a third new doctor to the community.
Lane says their new physician is Dr. Wendy Davie who has now settled in the community and has now opened her practice at the Gore Bay Medical Centre.
He says Dr. Davie is a Canadian trained doctor who spent some time earlier in her career in Gore Bay both as a student and a locum before moving to Australia to open a practice.
He welcomed her last week adding council will now focus on a plan to re-develop the current medical building to provide an updated and re-designed medical facility to service Western Manitoulin for many years to come.
That work will be part of the 2026 budget process.
