By Rosalind Russell – A Manitoulin Island girl is a contender for the Youth Athlete of the year.
Rowyn Pfeifer of Evansville is in the running for the title.
She says her mom inspires her on and off the track and rink.
Not only does she enjoy running, hockey has been a go to since joining a hockey team at ten years of age.
She adds she also loves cross-country running, especially with the beauty of the Island surrounding her on her regular runs.
Sponsored by Sports Illustrated and the Why Not Foundation, the competition is open to children between the ages of seven and 17 in Canada and the United States.
The final winner will be announced in the fall.
